A day with a Special Person

I have seen most of us are depressed with our life with working hours in Office, money, pressure to sustain,to live on expectations of others  but on that day two weeks ago saw a ray of hope. While I was returning back to home from work in a shared Auto, it suddenly stopped on the sideways, I thought some passenger would come along yes there was one but this one was special. He was a Blind Boy , he instructed Autowallah to drop him at Kaushambi #delhimetro station the very place where I was going too.

Me and  Friend Amit were sitting besides him and observing him. As the station was about to come he guided Autowallah to stop the Auto and we both were blown away he knew that station had came without actually seeing it.

Now we got down with him and tried to help him out little[don't know he needed any help] He was a young Boy in his late teens Carrying a folding stick in his hand a Backpack and a flattened Box in a Polythene Bag and an Identity card dangling in his neck. I tried to observe his eyes which were covered in a cheap Goggle but could not.

We asked him can we help him to get to his Metro and he replied sure we can. You need to climb escalators to get down to entrance of Metro station and then with frisking from security guard you enter the premises. While I hold on to his Polythene Bag Amit helped him out to make it to the station.

As we made it to the entrance he needed to purchase the token for Metro, there was a small line on that day at counter some college guys and girls were in that line, seeing him standing in line girls instructed their friends to get off the line and give him the way and he got his token pretty soon. Now I took his backpack and Bag and placed it in the Xray machine while I was doing this I sensed he was little apprehensive about his belongings and was rightly so as were new to him.

While we helped him to get to the platforms I thought it was the right time too have some chat with him. I asked him where he was from and where he is going. He replied he belongs to Darjeeling and is going to Saket to treat a patient for acupressure. He said he is living in Delhi since 2010 and have learnt about acupressure after completing his schooling from which he makes his living .We asked him about it visibility and he replied he has zero visibility in his eyes. To reach Saket it would take around an hour and interchanging of trains at Rajiv Chowk too. I inquired whether he knew the place where he was going and how he would return ? He said as you had helped me here someone will do there too and he was not sure when and how he would return but he did not felt any nervous about it but we were.

On that day I was going till Rajiv Chowk while on most of days I go further than Saket so I would have dropped him at Saket. I said we will get down at Rajiv Chowk and help him to board next train till Saket. Now the train to Rajiv Chowk arrived we boarded with him and he got a seat where he sat with all his luggage. As he sat he gave his Polythene Bag to one of the passengers to hold on to and he took his identity card from his neck and placed it inside his Bag. We didn't had any word with him while he was there in Metro we just were standing in from of him he thought we had left him. As the Rajiv Chowk station was about to arrive he left his seat[you get automatic voice notifications of stations arriving in #delhimetro] we again hold his hand and suddenly he knew it was us again. I said we will exit at Rajiv Chowk but we will tell someone to help him board the train to Saket for which he needed to go downstairs.

As we came out of Metro it was huge chaos there[as always] no body gave any look on to him and everyone was busy with themselves. We tried to convince any person to help him out but everyone was in hassle to catch theirs metro, so we decided we would go downstairs with him and make him board the train. I asked him whether he would like to go  downstairs with Escalators or by Stairs he said he would like Escalator. Reaching downstairs there was a huge crowd a train was there we tried to help him to get in but then it left soon without him.

As the next train arrived there was a young Boy who sensed the situation and said he would help him board the train. We said he will be going till Saket, he affirmed us don't worry and he will help him out. As we were about to leave the Blind guy thanked us for the help.

Leaving behind him I thought about the Boy how confident he was while we were worrying about him he was like it was daily stuff for him to travel and go to work.I think when a person is born with a disability God gave him some extra powers to deal with it. For that Boy he was born without his eyes there was nothing like light or sight for him it was normal for him without it.

Telling you about traveling in #delhimetro I have never seen anyone slipping on stairs or felling down in my one and a half years of day in day out traveling on it. But me a person with no disability once fell down on stairs and rolled down and injured myself and every eyes were upon me like I had committed some crime and then one person helped me to get up. I was very embarrassed that day. Moral of the story - It does not matter while you have eyes or not what matters is to have sense of presence.

And yes you must be wondering what was the Name of that Blind Guy ? So bad of me I had forgotten his name while his face is still fresh in front of my eyes.

The Week it was

Okay I am back again pretty soon as I had promised in my previous post. Still I don't have any idea what I would write today but I had begin and intend to complete this post in an hour only.

Yeah so I have got some clue what I could write for this post. I will discuss how this week had been for me and what I did.

As I work in Noida and live in South Delhi I have to cover huge distance daily and it took me around minimum of two and a half hours to cover one direction journey. From last one and a half years me and my Colleague friend Amit are covering this strenuous journey day in and day out, a large part of my day is spent in traveling. I can not afford a car so I have to use Public transport which consists of travelling by Bus, #delhimetro, Auto and then a km of walk to reach my Office. Last week I came to know of a different path and I have been using it and results are very good two and a half hours journey is now reduced to two hours only. Having said this journey now consists of paddy fields too crossing them my Office suddenly emerges which feels good. So all in all minimum of 1hr is saved from my daily routine which I could use some where else.

Now to some very important issue the "C" button of my Office laptop has came out from its place and what has left is a rubbery inner button which is helping me to type C [ as I type this post also ] but now it has also come out of its place. Work in my Office is done through this laptop only and believe it or not the most used button is C[ probably this is why it has came out ] , now what I can do is to go to the Service center and get it repaired which I am not in mood to go,secondly I have one backup keyboard of my Bro in Law's PC which I could use but then taking it to Office daily is not viable last remedy of which I am thinking is to use Fewi Quick[smiling] what say ? will it work ?

Now to not so very important thing, I was getting training in my Office on a new technology from last month which I always wanted to learn, I thought I would never get to work on it but one fine day a mail came to me and I was surprised to see my name in the list of trainees for that technology. From last week I had started to work on that technology and coming few days would be very challenging for me. Hoping for the best.

Oh yeah India and Pakistan celebrated their Independence day this week and a welcome holiday after so many months too for us. So many freedom fighters fought for our freedom[5 words starting from F in this sentence wow !!] we must surely spare a thought for them every now and then as we get time. I wrote Pakistan in the first sentence, don't know why but I am very obsessed with Pakistan and things related to it. What was nice to see on Facebook and twitter this Independence day was Indians greeting Pakistanis on their Independence day and vice versa. I had always believed to prosper we both countries should move ahead together, hopes others have this feeling too.

Tomorrow I'll be going to my hometown Meerut [bad thing >> have to wake early morning]. As I finish this post I am still struggling with this worn out button C  :( ,Indian Idol is coming on TV to which I am not giving much attention. Okay I must take leave hoping to return soon with some productive and nice post :)

Back to Blogging

So after quite a long time I am here again and writing, I know there are some people who missed my blogging a bit and so had I. About a month back I had jolted down a post on my Blog but didn't know what happened I left it in between[still pending in draft]. Those who know something about blogging would agree with me that its a difficult job, after a hard labored day in Office all you want to do is relax, spend some time with family and watch TV a bit. But then there are many persistent and regular bloggers too who no matter what happens do Blog and take it very seriously.

Personally I like writing and sharing my thoughts with you people but as I am not an organized person by nature it feels cumbersome to me to place pictures and make post aesthetic. As I visit many blogs daily most are very narrative, informative  with nice pictures and tight grammar and they look nice too but this is the only thing which keeps be back from writing. I have not seen much blogs with text only. There is a  blog of a Pakistani Medical intern Abdul Majeed who on contrary have mostly text only posts and I like it a lot to read his thoughts. As it takes lot of time to organize posts with Pictures so from future what I would do is follow him and it will help me come back to blogging and I my purpose of blogging will also be fulfilled. Also an interesting fact about Abdul Majeed is that he is one of very few Pakistanis who is Vegetarian[ Yes do visit his Blog ] .

But then it does not mean I will not post any pictures , I would but only whenever needed. About three hours daily I spend my time in #delhimetro and I have a so called smartphone too which could also help me in writing short posts, if any thing comes to my mind at that moment I would like to share that with you there only.

Now what I would do today is to tell you about 3 Blogs which are very close to me, if I am free and want to read something nice I move towards them.

First one is The Delhi Walla . If you'd ask me about the best city on this Planet I would say Delhi[though I have not visited many other cities]. Eversince in 1992 when we first moved here and then again last year I had closely observed it, there is something in it which makes it apart from others. One fine day I sat and started searching about the best Blog on Delhi and it does not took much time and I landed on this Blog. The writer Mayank Austen Soofi [ what a name to start with ] describes Delhi as City of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and Arundhati Roy. This blog contains the spirit of Delhi, you would fell in love with the writing style of Mayank. It has helped me to visit and know many places in Delhi which without it I would have never visited.

Second Blog that comes to my mind is Final Transit . Now this is a world Blog I would say written by an Indian Priyank Thatte who resides in Canada. He is a wanderer who after working some months would collect all his money and would leave to travel a particular country. When he writes he would write extensively with each and every detail from planning to food to travel and to everything. He would prepare about the country he is visiting for eg when  he visited Russia before he landed there he already mastered Russian language.

Lastly there is another travel Blog which over the years by hard work of the author had became one of India's most successful blog. I am talking about My Yatra Diary . Its a blog which would virtually make you visit to most of the holy places in India. Author Arti [ Fellow Blogger ] who is gifted with beautiful writing heart will make you stick to her post until you finish it. She would add many informative things about the place she is narrating about and would describe in such a manner that you would feel you are actually present there. Recently because of her writing she got a Chance to visit Japan and I am eagerly waiting for her posts about it[she already has started posting about it] . Incidentally she is also one of the reason behind my Blogging, she would persistently come on my Blog and will urge me to write to which I am very thankful to her and I feel very honored to have such a decorated  visitor on my Blog.
